Today, I want to share with you the story behind why I started writing children's books with a musical twist.
I guess it all began when I lost my mother about 12 years ago. She and I had a fantastic relationship and we also shared a love for music. Music was our common ground, and it brought us closer together. We went to concerts together and had the car radio on at all times. Country music was usually the genre we could always agree on. After she passed away, I found myself searching for ways to keep our connection alive, to continue the traditions we had shared.
That's when I had an idea. What better way to keep the memories and music of my mother alive than through my daughter. I wanted to create something special that my daughter and I could bond over, just as my mother and I had.
And so, the idea for my children's books with a musical twist was born. I wanted to create stories that incorporated nostalgic song titles that I could introduce to my daughter. By reading these stories together, I knew we would create new memories and connect over the love of music, just as my mother and I had.
It worked. My daughter and I read the stories together, and the songs weaved into the stories started playing in our heads. We would hear them on the radio, and my daughter would excitedly point and say, "That's from our book!" The connection was made, and our bond grew stronger.
So, to all the parents out there looking for a fun and engaging way to bond with their children over music, I highly recommend trying out my children's books with a musical twist. Trust me when I say, your children will love it, and you will start creating memories and connections that will last a lifetime.
